Therapy for Women with ADHD

As a woman with ADHD, you are creative, passionate and talented but life is still a struggle. You are giving 150% of your energy to meet society’s standards for a “successful” professional and/or personal life, but others don’t seem to recognize your effort. It feels like it’s so much harder for you to do things that others find to be easy, yet you are immensely talented when it comes to pursuing what you care about.

Common struggles of ADHDers:

  • Feeling like you are always behind in some area of your life

  • Difficulty balancing your personal and professional obligations

  • Strong emotions that are hard to cope with

  • Communication differences and high sensitivity to rejection can make relationships confusing and draining

  • Shame and self-criticism around being “normal” and having your life look a certain way

  • Low self-esteem as a result of being different

  • Being told you are “too intense,” “lazy” or “selfish”

As a result of these challenges, many women with ADHD develop anxiety, depression and other mental health difficulties. They become harsher with themselves, feel like they are failing, and that stress leads them to struggle even more with organization, planning and other tasks of daily living.

You deserve relief. Therapy can help.

The problem isn’t you. The problem is that our society was not built for people who are different and so you were not provided with tools and support you needed to help you navigate the world. It’s important to understand how your unique brain works, what your particular strengths and challenges are, and then use that information to create a life that works better for YOU.

I have the training in executive functioning, emotion regulation and relationship dynamics to help you feel more capable, worthy and connected to others. You can feel more in control of your life, you can have deep, meaningful relationships, you can have pride in your differences and advocate for your needs. You deserve the compassion that you offer to others. Let’s get started together.
